My Top Ten Favorite Things About Going to Scotland/England
Note: These are in no particular order.
1. Lecturing on John Knox in front of Knox’s house in Edinburgh with some passersby yelling out, “John Knox is a wanker!”
2. Walking on Hadrian’s wall.
3. Taking morning communion at Yorkminster, one of western Europe’s largest cathedrals.
4. Hearing my new friend Will Albright preach one of John Wesley’s sermons from John Wesley’s pulpit in Bristol.
5. Eating Steak and Ale Pie at the Eagle and Child pub, home of the Inklings in Oxford.
6. Seeing Les Miserables at the Queen Theatre, in Leicester Square, London.
7. My many conversations with my roommate for life, Bryant Nam, especially the one in the Shambles in York.
8. Going with MacLean to the British Museum super early in the morning on the last day, where I saw an Assyrian obelisk with a picture of the biblical King Jehu inscribed on it.
9. Walking around London seeing the Tower of London, Pecadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Parliament Bldg., Westminster Abbey, and then riding the double decker bus back at 2:30 AM, having a cool conversation with an actor on the bus.
10. Meeting and getting to know people that have been at Valley Forge for quite some time that I never had the chance to really get to know before this trip (Steve, Will, Mike, Seth, Erin, Joe, Amber, Josh, Michelle), as well as our leaders (Alex, Rolly, Mark, and Phil). The conversations I had with all of these people, plus the people I already knew changed my life.
